ENG 101: Writing Home

When I first devised this theme for my ENG 101 class, I thought it would be a great way to apply my research on the Big House into the first-year writing classroom. Little did I know how relevant this theme would become in quarantine! This course worked exceptionally well for distance learning; students were able to think critically about what it means to be “at home.” I taught two sections of this class, one for English Language Learners. Students shared their perspective on their homes around the world. I’m extremely proud of the work my students did this fall! Check out some examples and our syllabus below.
